Nissan blind spot warning
This Safety Shield feature uses the rearview monitor camera to detect vehicles behind you and to the sides. It can see vehicles in either lane from about where your side mirrors are to about 10 feet behind your vehicle. When the feature is enabled, you’ll see an indicator light in your Nissan near the side mirror. If you signal for a lane change, a chime will sound and the light will flash: Green means all clear, and red means stay put. Always check your mirrors and blind spot before making a maneuver, and go ahead when the blind spot warning light is green.

How to turn it on or off
We’re not sure why you’d want to turn the BSW system off. Maybe Danger is your middle name. You can access the Driver Assistance settings using the buttons on the left side of your steering wheel. The function is listed as Blind Spot or BSW. There’s also a button to turn it on or off quickly. Its location depends on which Nissan vehicle you have, so check your owner’s manual if you can’t locate the switch. These safety features are automatically enabled whenever the engine is restarted.
