In the summer of 2014 Nissan launched the wildly successful “prankvertising” campaign and told random participants that they were about to ride in a new Altima race car. With professionals behind the wheel, participants got quite a thrill only to find out after the ride that the race car’s enhancements were purely cosmetic.

This time Nissan skipped the prank. Instead, customers were invited to a shopping mall to try to unlock a large Smart Glass box. When the lucky individuals are able to unlock the box, the 2015 Nissan Altima is revealed and so begins the next stage of the adventure. The sporty Altima drives the lucky customers to a race track for a hand behind the wheel to burn some rubber and get a demonstration by professional drivers. Nissan used the 2015 Altima 3.5 SL and equipped the sedan with a variety of decals and faux spoiler to complete the look. To give the 2015 Nissan Altima the race car sound, the exhaust was also enhanced. At the end of the transformation, the 2015 Nissan Altima looked, drove, smelled and felt like a true race car.
