Predictive forward collision warning
This Safety Shield feature uses radar to detect the movement and speed of the vehicle ahead of you. Unlike on some other cars, the Nissan system also detects the vehicle in front of the vehicle in front of you. That’s where the “predictive” part comes in. If the vehicle(s) in front of you slow down suddenly, you’ll hear a warning sound, see a warning sign flash on your display and feel your seat belt tighten a bit. If you don’t respond to these signals, your Nissan vehicle can apply the brakes to help prevent a pileup. In the worst-case scenario, when a crash is imminent, it will at least limit the damage.

How to turn it on or off
We’re not sure why you’d want to turn the PFCW system off. Maybe Danger is your middle name. You can access the Driver Assistance settings using the buttons on the left side of your steering wheel. The function is listed as Emergency Brake. Forward emergency braking and predictive forward collision warning are two sides of the same coin. If one is turned off, the other is too. When they’re disabled, you’ll see a little yellow warning light in the dash while driving. These safety features are automatically enabled whenever the engine is restarted. When you fear the worst, safety first!
