What do the Nissan Altima dashboard warning lights mean?

Nissan Altima dashboard warning lights

Even though our vehicles don’t speak, they can still communicate with us when they need us to pay attention. In addition to sounds, smells and feelings, our vehicles use symbols to indicate when something needs to be looked at more closely. The Nissan Altima dashboard warning lights are examples of our vehicles’ means of communication, so we’re sharing a comprehensive list of them for when our cars try to tell us something.

Uncommon dashboard warning lights

We hope most dashboard warning lights become uncommon for our drivers so they never have to encounter an issue on the road. However, it’s still important to be well-versed on your vehicle’s functions and symbols in the event that something comes up. Some of the more uncommon warning lights are:

Slip indicator light – If you ever find yourself on slippery terrain, the slip indicator light (depicted as a car with swerve lines behind it) will illuminate.

Low tire pressure warning light – If one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated, the low tire pressure warning light (depicted as an exclamation point in a horseshoe shape) will be visible on the dashboard.

Supplemental air bag warning – if your Altima’s supplemental air bag is engaged or experiencing issues, the dash will display the supplemental air bag warning (depicted as a passenger wearing a seatbelt with a black circle above them).

Overdrive OFF indicator light – If your Altima is outfitted with overdrive capabilities and the system has been turned off, the overdrive OFF indicator light (shown as O/D OFF) will be illuminated.
