A favorite October activity among Dayton residents is to visit a haunted house, hayride or corn maze to celebrate the Halloween holiday. Its a great family activity and is great fun for both parents and children alike. Nightmare on Valley Street
The Nightmare on Valley Street is located right here in Dayton Ohio and is one of our favorite haunted Halloween attractions. It is a “Scream Park” that consists of five different scary attractions. There are haunted trails that feature more than 40 live monsters just waiting to scare anyone who dares to pass by. They also have the HELL RIDE which is a terrifying nightmare ride on wheels, and the Rat Trap Haunted house. Also, they are offering a new paintball challenge this year for 2014. In the paintball massacre you can test your mettle and skills at shooting monsters with paintball guns.
The Chambers of Horror
The Chamber of Horror haunted house has been open for over 30 years, making it one of the longest running and most popular haunted houses in all of Ohio. It is located in Middleton at the old Cambridge Inn building. This haunted house has over 30 rooms and 100 doors with terror lurking around every turn. This haunted house is open rain or shine, has a covered waiting area and is handicap accessible. It is open annually from September 12 through November 1 on Friday and Saturday nights and costs $13.00 per person.
The Lewisburg Haunted Cave
There is a truly unique and haunting experience located in Lewisburg Ohio called the Haunted Cave. Sound scary? Well it is. This haunting experience is located in an actual cave that is more than 80 feet below the earths surface. The Lewisburg Cave is the longest haunted house in the world. It actually holds the Guinness World Record for the longest walk-through haunted house and has a distance of 3,564 feet. This limestone cave also features 300 feet of haunted bridges and more than 30,000 live bats. The haunted cave is only open on Friday and Saturday nights from September 19 through October 31 and the hours are from seven to midnight. Also, ticket prices are $5.00 for children 10 and under and $16.00 for adults.
