Car games kids can play on a road trip

1. Road Trip Bingo

This game is extremely easy to set up, and it’ll keep the kids occupied for hours on end. The game is designed as somewhat of a scavenger hunt, with kids trying to find things commonly seen on road trips. For free printable road trip bingo cards, click here.

2. 20 Questions

Each round of 20 Questions can either go very quickly or take a looooong time, which is part of what makes it a great road trip game! Think of a person, place, or thing, and allow the other passengers to ask 20 yes or no questions to figure out what you have in mind.

3. License Plate Game

This classic game has been around for years, and there’s a reason for it. The easy, highly-entertaining game gets kids looking away from their screens and out to the outdoors. There are two main ways to play this game. Either write down the state as you see its license plate, or write down all 50 states in advance and check them off as you see them. The game can also be educational for older kids if you print off a geographical map and ask them to locate the license plate’s state on the map.

4. “I’m Going on a Picnic”

This is a great game for the whole family, and the alphabet-based game definitely tests your memory! Start out by saying “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing…” and choose an item that you’ll bring that starts with an A. The next person will have to say the same thing, remembering what you are bringing and adding in something they will bring that starts with a B. If you forget to include a previous person’s item, you’re out! The game continues until there’s just one person left.
