Now that we are into July it really is time to get out and enjoy summer. One way to do this is by spending a day out on one of the many bodies of water surrounding Dayton with no worries in the world but the fishing pole in your hand. 1. Eastwood Lake

This fishing area is located in Eastwood Metro Park . It’s perfect for any fisherperson whether you have a boat to use or you just want to sit on shore. Be prepared to catch catfish and many different species of bass. On warm nights and weekends stay past dusk to test your luck night-fishing.

2. Great Miami River

To fish at this local area, you don’t even need leave downtown. It’s fun to fish by the dam and just north of downtown to catch carp and other big fish. If you live near Dayton, you know the Great Miami River, but now it’s time to get to know the fish that swim in the waters.

3. Hueston Woods State Park

Just about 15 minutes outside of town is this scenic state park that provides over 600 acres of fishing areas. This is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful nature that surrounds you. Bring your friends, or just your lunch and enjoy catching a variety of fish.

4. Carriago Hill

If you are more of an ameteur fisher, this area is for you. You don’t need a license to dip your pole in Cedar Lake or North Woods Pond which are both in this area. You are likely to catch all sizes of bass and sunfish that reach up to nine inches. This area is perfect for a care-free fishing day.
