Dayton Holiday Festival
Here at Matt Castrucci Nissan Dayton OH we love to highlight fun family friendly events that go on throughout our community. One of the most popular events that takes place around this time of year is the Dayton Holiday Festival. So we have decided to dedicate this blog post to discussing some of the background about this event and to share everything that there is to know about the Dayton Holiday Festival this year.
The Dayton Holiday Festival is a very special annual event that has been going on for many years now. This free community event was started by Mrs. Virginia Kettering more than 40 years so that all children could partake in the joy and festivities that accompany the holiday season, regardless of their economic status. The Dayton Holiday Festival continues to this day and it has grown every year. However, it still remains free, so that everyone in the community can attend.
The Festival kicks off every year on the day after Thanksgiving with the Grande Illumination. The Grande Illumination consists of a traditional tree lighting where the tree in the courthouse square is lit up with over 50,000 lights.
The Grande Illumination is followed up by the Children’s Parade Spectacular in lights where giant decorative floats, horses, musical bands, lights and holiday guests make up the holiday parade that follows along second, fourth and main street.
There are many other great holiday themed events that will be taking place through the festival such as: A holiday village, Gingerbread house contest, carriage rides, great food and much more.
