Good crash test ratings for the 2015 Nissan Sentra
The popular 2015 Nissan Sentra is one of those vehicles that really has it all. It’s affordable, fuel efficient, is packed with features and options, and is fun to drive. For a vehicle with great reviews and accolades, it was hard to imagine it getting any better until the 2015 Nissan Sentra was chosen as a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) after good crash test ratings.
Each year the IIHS tests the active and inactive safety features in new vehicles through a series of crash tests. The IIHS is dedicated to helping reduce the number of accidents and property damage on U.S. roads and highways each year by testing the latest safety technology. While the IIHS is a nonprofit, independent organization, it works closely with auto manufacturers to work together to find solutions to improve the safety technology in vehicles today.
The IIHS rates the performance of each vehicle on a scale of good (the best), acceptable, marginal and poor. To be eligible for the “Top Safety Pick” distinction, a vehicle must earn “good” ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints and seats tests. The vehicle must also earn a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the small overlap front test. This was no problem for the 2015 Nissan Sentra, which earned the highest rating in all crash tests although it wasn’t tested for front crash prevention. The good crash test ratings for the 2015 Nissan Sentra helped place the small sedan in an elite group of vehicles with great safety ratings.
Standard safety features on the 2015 Nissan Sentra include antilock brakes, stability control, a rearview camera, active front head restraints, front-seat side and full-length side curtain airbags. In addition to top safety technology, the 2015 Nissan Sentra is available with hands-free text messaging capability, low-rolling-resistance tires, navigation and voice recognition.
