When November rolls around, that means some frigid weather is near. While that’s a bummer, the colder weather brings the wonderful holiday season with it. And with the holiday season come some great family and community festivities. This year, the Dayton Power and Light Company is sponsoring the Dayton Holiday Festival. When is the 2018 Dayton Holiday Festival?
The day after Thanksgiving or as savvy shoppers call it, Black Friday, is when you can partake in the 2018 Dayton Holiday Festival. The events will kick off around 4:00 at Courthouse Square in Downtown Dayton. Be sure you stick around until 7:45 when the 50,000-light Christmas tree is lit and brightens the entire square.
What is happening at the 2018 Dayton Holiday Festival?
The Grande Tree Illumination
Who doesn’t love the gorgeous sight of a huge Christmas tree besides ol’ Ebenezer? This three-story-tall tree features approximately 50,000 glowing lights and will serve as a symbol of the holiday season throughout the month of December.
Children’s Parade Spectacular in Lights
Immediately following the tree lighting will be the Children’s Parade. This will go along Second, Main, and Fourth Streets and feature floats and displays with more than 100,000 lights. Oh, and don’t forget about the horses, drill teams, and bands!
Live Main Stage Entertainment
There will be a large stage right on the Courthouse Square that will feature live music and entertainment. The entertainment starts at 4:00 and will end right before the tree-lighting ceremony. Entertainers include Joseph Glenn, Viva La Strings, Berachah Valley, the Centerville Community Chorus, Todd the Fox, and the Dayton Celebration Chorus.
Also present at the 2018 Dayton Holiday Festival will be live reindeer, a gingerbread house contest, street fair, and a holiday village. Make a whole day of it with the family and come check out the 2018 Dayton Holiday Festival!
