How often should I change the oil in my 2017 Nissan Maxima?

Nissan recommends changing the oil in your 2017 Maxima every 6 months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, if your vehicle is exposed to especially demanding conditions on a regular basis, it’s a good idea to change the oil in your vehicle more often than the recommended time frame. Demanding conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • Repeatedly driving short distances (less than 5 miles)
  • Repeated short trips of less than 10 miles when temperatures are below freezing
  • Driving on gravel, mud or salted roads
  • Driving in heavy traffic (or consistently stopping and starting) during hot weather
  • Extensive idling or low speed driving for long distances
  • Driving in dusty conditions
