2016 Nissan LEAF Production Preperations
Whether you are spending your time around the Nissan watercooler, jumping into the rumor mill with all the whispers and busy little bees or not, there is no doubt that you’ve taken notice to the current state of the Nissan LEAF. The all-electric superstar is looking a little feeble these days, but why? Could this have anything to do with the 2016 Nissan LEAF production preparations? Or are we just stark-raving mad?
As of late, the production numbers for Nissan’s flagship charge-and-go LEAF have been on a steady decline. With numbers peaking for the 2015 Nissan LEAF back in May, there has been a consistent drop off in the amount produced ever since. Normally, one might see this as a lack of success across the brand, but with sales numbers staying consistent as well, that doesn’t seem to be the case. That is where the rumors come into play; this could be Nissan’s way of gearing up for the production of the next generation electric car.
As much as we love the 2015 Nissan LEAF, the ideas that are coming along with a new model year edition are pretty great to imagine. What if the range was extended by upwards of 35 miles? Already Nissan is talking about an extended range battery for the current LEAF as it were. And how about a crossover version of the LEAF for 2016? Now wouldn’t that be something; a little extra space inside and room for more cargo and passengers throughout, not a bad idea at all.
Needless to say, the Nissan LEAF is one of the most practical and most affordable fully electric vehicles on the market today, so to see it getting the upgrades it deserves resonates well with all of us.
