2016 Nissan Altima tire pressure recommendations
Winter is one of the most brutal seasons for our vehicles’ tires. They travel through snow, ice, potholes and endure plummeting temperatures. In order to ensure the safety and efficiency of our vehicles’ tires, we want to make sure they are properly filled with air throughout the winter months. If you’re wondering, “what should my car’s tire pressure be?” we’re giving you the 2016 Nissan Altima tire pressure recommendations here and now.
When adjusting tire pressure, most vehicle manufacturers recommend waiting until the tires have reached their cold tire inflation pressure. This means the vehicle has been parked for more than three hours or has only been driven less than a mile. Once that level has been reached drivers will be able to fill their tires to the proper level.
For a 2016 Nissan Altima, the following measurements are ideal for its front, rear and spare tires:
How to check tire pressure
Thankfully we live in a time that offers electronic tire pressure checking systems at local gas stations. But for those who want to go old school and know how to check tire pressure, here is how to do it:
- remove the valve cap from the tire
- align the tire pressure gauge with the tire valve and press lightly
- pressing too hard may force air to escape from the tire – avoid the hissing sound
- remove the gauge
- examine the tire pressure reading on the gauge and compare it to the recommended tire pressure above
- if air is needed, add until the gauge reaches the appropriate reading
- if there is too much air, gently press the gauge to the valve to release pressure until it reaches the proper level
- replace the valve cap
- repeat on remaining tires
