To start, the new sedan is fully redesigned for the model year and flaunts a brand new grille, styling and more. It also gets a new SR trim level, which is the sport-tuned version of the models. Under the hood the 2016 Nissan Altima carries over the engine options from the 2015 model, which include a 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. With that said, the 2016 Nissan Altima is available in the following trim levels and engine configurations:
- 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5
- 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 S
- 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 SR
- 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV
- 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL
- 2016 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR
- 2016 Nissan Altima SL
All 2016 Altimas equipped with a 2.5-liter engine, except the SR, are capable of up to 27 city / 39 highway mpg. Because the 2016 Nissan Altima SR model is performance focused, it has received EPA fuel economy estimates of 22 city / 32 highway mpg. In contrast, all 2016 Altimas equipped with a 3.5-liter engine are rated for 22 city and 32 highway mpg.
The brand new sedan is expected to go on sale starting at a MSRP of $22,500. Nissan has revealed that some of the brand new available features of the sedan include Predictive Forward Collision Warning system, rear cross traffic alert, a new center console, premium upholstery and much more. Siri Eyes Free voice recognition, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps and a Bose premium audio system are other premium, available features on the high-tech sedan.
