2015 Nissan Pathfinder crash test ratings
Safety technology continues to improve, but even with increasingly better safety features the importance of crash test ratings won’t be diminished. Nonprofit, independent organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) work in collaboration with auto manufacturers to improve safety and ensure the latest innovative technology works on the road as well as it does in the design room. This year the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder was one of three Nissan vehicles to be recognized for good crash tests and the midsize SUV earned a “Top Safety Pick” rating.
The IIHS rates the performance of active and inactive safety features in a crash test based on a rating of good (the best), acceptable, marginal or poor. To be eligible to be a “Top Safety Pick” a vehicle must earn a good or acceptable rating in small overlap front test and a good rating or better in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints and seat tests. The 2015 Nissan Pathfinder in fact earned the highest rating in all five crash tests.
Not only does the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder earn great crash test ratings but adds new safety and technology features for the model-year. In particular the midsize SUV’s upper level SL and Platinum trim levels adds a blind-spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert. The SL trim level also receives a 360-degree parking camera.
Where most SUVs struggle with space in the rear seats, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder excels.
