Why the Nissan 370Z is better than the Scion FR-S

2014 Nissan 370Z Dayton OH

One of most popular and best selling vehicles here at Matt Castrucci Nissan Dayton OH is the 370Z model. However, we have had a lot of customers ask us what makes the 370Z better than the Scion FR-S in recent months. The FR-S is a sports car model that has grown in popularity over the past few years.  So we have decided to dedicate this post to explaining exactly why the 2014 Nissan 370Z Dayton OH is better than the 2015 Scion FR-S.

First of all, it’s only right to compare performance first, these are both sports cars after all. The Nissan 370Z is powered by a 3.7 liter, six-cylinder engine that produces a roaring 332 horsepower. The 370Z has some serious braking power as well with its 14-inch disc brakes. It also has steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for precision performance driving through all seven of its gears.

The Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine that produces only 200 horsepower, which is a full 132 horsepower less than the 370Z. The FR-S is fairly responsive for a four-cylinder, but lacks the overall power and high-end performance features of the 370Z. So the 370Z wins out in the performance category by far. Also, the FR-S is only equipped with a six-cylinder transmission, which is not as efficient as the seven-speed transmission in the 370Z.

For exterior appearance both of these vehicles have an aggressive looking styling, many different trim levels and ways to customize them from the factory. We strongly believe that the Nissan 370Z has a more high-quality styling and feel to it, but we will let you be the judge of this category and decide for yourself which car wins.

The one area where the Scion FR-S is going to beat out the 370Z is fuel economy. However, that is only because the FR-S is far less powerful than the 370Z. The Scion FR-S gets an EPA estimated 28 miles per gallon in the city and an estimated 36 miles per gallon on the highway. The Nissan 370Z gets an EPA estimated 19 miles per gallon in the city and an estimated 26 miles per gallon on the highway, which is still fairly good considering how powerful the 370Z is.
