How does Rear Door Alert work?
Rear Door Alert may seem like a somewhat simple concept, but it actually utilizes very advanced technology to function properly. The system monitors the 2018 Pathfinder’s rear door switches to determine their open/closed status prior to departure. If the vehicle turns off and the rear door is not opened again, the system will alert the driver that there may be something left in the backseat using visual and audio cues.
So does that mean that the Rear Door Alert will cause your horn to go off every time you don’t reopen the rear door after arriving at your destination? Definitely not. The highly-advanced technology is configurable to user settings or can be turned off completely, based on driver preference.
